Webster Gives Doubront Competition

Felix Doubront better watch over his shoulder because Allen Webster is kicking at his heels. Doubront has big league stuff, as evidenced by his high strikeout total, but his command & control are the issues that plagued him last year & continue to be a concern this year. Last night was his worst outing of the year in Arlington, TX. He is still a young pitcher that the Sox hope can give the team 15 good outings out of 30 as the #4 guy in this rotation. Doubront has been plagued with injuries from reporting to camp too heavy & he ran out of gas in the 2nd half of last year's season. Should Doubront pitch poorly 3 or 4 more times in a row, don't be surprised to see a phantom injury come up & Allen Webster take his spot in the rotation. Webster threw a gem in Triple-A last night, giving up only 1 run in 6 strong innings. Webster too has great stuff like Doubront, but he has the added advantage of a low walk ratio to innings pitched. 6 walks in 20 innings to go along with 24 K's. With Lester, Buck, Dempster & Lackey the Sox has 4 veteran starters who are all throwing pretty well. If Doubront can't do the job, give Webster a chance. Thank you, Magic & Dodgers!
