Closer By Attrition
First it was Joel Hanrahan. Then Andrew Bailey. Now with both guys on the DL Junichi Tazawa is the 3rd closer of the young season for the Red Sox. Tazawa has closer stuff &, if he can handle his new role, it may be difficult for Bailey & Hanrahan to get their old job back. Uehara has shown more bright spots than dull ones as a late-inning arm. I worry that the move of Tazawa to the 9th exposes holes in the 6th & 7th. Other than Uehara for the 8th, the pen will need to get bigger contributions from Miller, Mortensen, Breslow & even Doubront to form a bridge to Uehara & Tazawa. It's all hands on deck until Hanrahan & Bailey get right.
