Another Walk-Off Win for the Sox
You know things are falling your way when your new closer blows a save & gives up a game-tying run in the top of the 9th, only to have your offense score the winning run in the bottom of the 9th. Sox win 3-2 in a series where runs were hard to come by for both teams. A sweep of the Rays is something that I can't remember in the last few years. It came down to the Sox starters outpitching the Rays staff & the Sox offense finding a way to score critical runs when necessary. Salty & Longoria traded HR's early in this game before a Pedroia walk in the 9th & a wall ball double by Mike Napoli ended the game. The Sox are winning with pitching & defense. Example, the Sox allowed Tampa Bay a stingy 1, 0 & 2 runs in their 3 games. You don't have to score a lot of runs to win with pitching like that. Off to Cleveland now to play Terry Francona's new team.
