Does Luchhino Own the Ortiz Signing?

Every single player that the Red Sox sign has to undergo a physical. Look what happened with Mike Napoli & his contract. However, Sox management signed David Ortiz to a 2-year deal in the off-season with no such physical required. Was that Larry's idea to put fans in the old ballpark? Maybe it was Tom Werner's idea to keep the team sexy & get the ratings on NESN higher than last year. I can almost bet that it wasn't Ben Cherington's idea - just like hiring Valentine wasn't Cherington's idea - but Ben will take one for the team & get the flack for it. Ortiz is not rushing back from an Achilles problem. He will be lucky to play a half a year like A-Rod. O well, it's only money.
