Sox Sign Overbay for Depth

Just in case Mike Napoli can't go everyday or if he injures his hip, the Sox now have a veteran backup in Lyle Overbay. Red Sox fans remember Overbay from his days in Toronto. Overbay has had injury issues as well in recent years, but he brings a left-handed bat & he hits mostly against right-handed pitchers. It was a cost-effective move for the Sox to sign him to a minor league deal. Think of Overbay as a 6th or 7th starting pitcher. You never know about injuries & who will end up on the field.
