Yes, this would be a significant move if the Sox could pry all-star closer Joel Hanrahan out of Pittsburgh for guys like Aceves & Morales. That would also pave the way for extra parts like Iglesias, Saltie, Lavarnway, Bailey, Kalish, Nava, et al to be packaged into a trade for a front-line pitcher like a Felix Hernandez, Cliff Lee or Matt Garza. Other than Kyle Lohse, most other free agent pitchers have found homes & are off the market. Trade is the only way to upgrade at this point. Go for Hanrahan, Ben, then pull a big trade.
