Shane Victorino becomes the newest Red Sox with what is becoming the standard Sox free agent contract - 3 years, $39 million. Victorino brings speed, defense, is a switch-hitter & can play Gold Glove center-field. This signing - like that of David Ross - begs the question of whether a big trade is in the works that would involve Saltie & Ells. The Sox don't need 4 catchers & 2 CF's. However, Victorino can also play right & could bring speed to the top of the order with he & Ells batting 1 & 2. Everyone is overpaid, but I consider this signing a good one. Now onto shortstop & pitching, Ben.
