Sox Sign David Ross As Backup Catcher

This is a head-scratcher. David Ross, a journeyman backup catcher, gets a 2-year deal for $6.2 million. Small money, but why is Ben going there? This means that either Saltie or Lavarnway will go. I can only hope that there is a trade in the works for a good pitcher or position player that includes one of the current catchers. Otherwise, Ross is a minor acquisition of no consequence.
