Sox Talking With Big Papi & Cody Ross

The Red Sox website confirms that management is in active negotiations to bring back David Ortiz & Cody Ross in 2013. Both should get some sort of multi-year deals with incentives or stipulations, particularly in Ortiz' case given his potential for more injuries at his age. To my way of thinking that is the next "to do" item on Ben's list of off-season necessities. Once Ortiz & Ross are back in the fold Ben can turn his attention to adding needed players in the starting rotation, bullpen, a shortstop, an outfielder & a middle-of-the-order bat. Some of those new players may come through free agency, but I would bet that there is a major trade coming that could involve Saltie, Ells or other prospects.
