Jeter & A-Rod: Tale of 2 Players
My mom never liked Jeter. She didn't like his smile after a good play in the field or after a big base hit. However, after watching Jeter play for years, if I had to admire a player on the Yankees, it would be Derek Jeter. Jeter runs out every ball & is fundamentally sound in the field. He does all the little things right & the opposition never wants to have him at the plate in a big situation. To me he & Mo Rivera are the only real Yankees left. The rest are rent-a-players. Too bad Jeter joind Mo on the DL after breaking his ankle last night. His leadership on the field will be missed. Now take A-Rod, a $30 million guy being pinch hit for & batting 6th in the order now. A-Rod is the farthest thing from Jeter & his body is slowly breaking down more & more each year from his past steroid use. A-Rod is more comparable these days to a Jose Canseco. The Yankees are out big money for the rest of his contracy. There couldn't be 2 players more opposite on the same team.
