Dallas Braden Opts for Free Agency

Who can't use another lefty starting pitcher? Dallas Braden (yes, the perfect game Dallas Braden of 2010) declined the A's offer to a minor league contract after 2 arms surgeries kept him out of action this past year. This guy fits the Red Sox profile of low cost, low risk & at age 29 he still has many good years left in that left arm. It would be quite unique to have 3 lefties in the starting rotation (Lester, Dubront, Braden), but why not? One thing about those A's is they draft excellent pitching. A small performance-incentivized contract would be all that's needed. C'mon, Ben. Start stockpiling arms for Spring Training. Braden is worth a shot.

I like the idea of low risk/ high reward guys. On the other hand, I'd prefer they concentrate on starting pitching. They can fill the bullpen in as they go.
