It Could Be Worse

I have been involved in playing or coaching sports most of my life. I always hated a player, a board member or another coach who used the saying "we are no worse than Johhny Jones or XYZ team." Really, is that the goal? To be no no worse than another player or team. Don't you want to set your own standard to be measured against? I'm getting off track here. Looking at the standings today I was reminded of that saying. As A Red Sox fan, we are no worse (in fact better) than a fan of the Philadelphia Phillies, Houston Astros, Chicago Cubs, Minnesota Twins, Seattle Mariners and Kansas City Royals. These 6 teams are out of it for the 2nd half while the other 24 clubs are still within striking distance of the 2nd wild card. So keep the faith, Red Sox Nation. We are no worse than 6 other teams at the break.

I forgot to include the San Diego Padres in the group of "no chance" teams.
