Lester Hurls Complete Game Win

I said to my brother last night that Jon Lester is having a good game because the home plate umpire was calling the low strike for him. It worked the whole game for Lester as he cruised past the Mariners lineup with a complete game effort. More important than pitching 9 full innings to me was the fact that there were zero walks, no free bases, that typically turn his outings into multiple-run innings. It's simple - throw strikes early in the count & make hitters hit your pitch. Lester did that to turn in the 4th start where the Red Sox rotation went 6 or more innings during the 4-game win streak. Today the bullseye is squarely on Josh Beckett to follow suit with the rest of the rotation to keep the winning streak alive with another good start of 6 or more innings. He takes the mound after a dismal 2+ inning performance last week.
