It's the first week of the new baseball season & already the new Marlins manager, Ozzie Guillen, is suspended 5 games. Ozzie said he respects Fidel Castro.
Not the best thing to say in a community of Cubans who are your fan base. The Marlins couldn't have asked for anything worse in a year where they are trying to fill a new park.
Ozzie gave a contrite speech today & said he will stay away from making political comments in the future. That may be too little too late for many Cubans who fled the oppression of Castro's regime years ago.
Not to be outdone, Ozzie has also made positive comments about Hugo Chavez of Venezuela. He hopes that his Venezuelan players will give him a pass on those comments as well.
Miami should have known what they were getting in Ozzie Guillen. He has a history of shooting his mouth off & now he may have gone one step too far.

I find it interesting that because many of these atheletes achieve notoriety in one area, they feel qualified to delve into areas where they have no expertise. Most of these guy are uneducated dolts with athletic talent. They should be seen and not heard.
