More Than A Game Of Catch

I can remember playing catch with my dad in a parking lot behind our apartment building. He threw a mean knuckleball! It was one of those father & son moments that many of us remember with a smile.

I read a story in the local newspaper about a baseball player from Arizona State. He slid into second base last year & sustained a freak injury to his spine which has left him paralized. One of the things his dad said is that he misses the old days of throwing the ball around & playing catch with his son.

Many major leaguers that graduated from ASU have stepped up to help with support. Dustin Pedroia is one player who has sent a video of well wishes to this kid from all the Red Sox players.

Like most things in life, you don't miss them until they are gone -- even a simple game of catch. I wish this young player the best in his recovery.
