Jon Lester & Josh Beckett have made their first starts of the early season in Spring Training. Now it's Clay Buchholz' time to return to the mound today.
This will be the first time that Buck returns to the mound since being injured last year with a nagging back injury. That injury, originally thought to be minor, kept him on the sidelines for more than half a season.
Rest & rehab have him back to good health in 2012. In fact, there was talk that Buck might have been able to return last year in the playoffs - which we never made it into. Just as well from his perspective to get a full off-season of rest.
I think Clay Buchholz is "the" key to the Red Sox season in 2012. A healthy Buck with 17 or 18 wins is the recipe needed to stop a slide like the one of last September. A lot of eyes from Red Sox Nation will be watching his first start today.
