There are pluses & minuses on both sides of the coin flip when thinking about Daniel Bard or Alfredo Aceves joining the starting rotation.
Bard could close & move Andrew Bailey & Mark Melancon back to the 7th & 8th innings. Likewise, Aceves could be the 7th inning guy with Melancon the 8th & Bailey the 9th. It's unlikely that both Bard & Aceves will both go into the starting rotation. The 5th spot should go to Aaron Cook, Felix Doubront or Vicente Padilla.
My gut says that the Sox owe a chance to Bard to try & crack the starting rotation. Unless Andrew Bailey fails miserably in the closer role, Bard could stay in the rotation's #4 spot. The #5 spot will probably revert back to Dice-K in June.
