ESPN Boston is reporting that Bobby V. has not yet committed to Daniel Bard as a starting pitcher versus the team's closer. These are decisions to be made in the coming days as Valentine sets his starting rotation & bullpen.
As I mentioned in an earlier blog article, there are pro's & con's to both jobs for Daniel Bard. One thing is for certain - Bard does have an important job with this team in 2012.
I think Bobby V. is bringing a fresh pair of eyes to everything without being biased by previous relationships. The use of Bard will be governed by where he can best help this team win. I'm OK with waiting a little longer.

Bobby is concerned about the walks. He has had 7 in his last 2 outings.“I don’t think that even with his good stuff I could handle the walks,” Valentine said.( from the Herald.) On another note: RI Mel Parnell. I'm too youg to have watched him, but I enjoyed listenening to him do color way back when.
