The Sox start their search this week for a successor to Terry Francona. Like him or hate him, Tito is the skipper who guided the Sox to 2 World Series titles with an 8-0 record. The post-Francona era starts with assistants from the Phillies & Brewers (old friend Dale Sveum) getting the first 2 interviews.
At the same time, players begin filing for free agency this week. The biggest names on the Red Sox list are Jon Papelbon & David Ortiz. The Sox have a $3 million option on Dan Wheeler which they need to decide upon as well.
