Sox Finally Win 18-9

John Lackey flat out stinks. On a night that the Red Sox needed a veteran pitcher to step up, he threw possibly his worst game of the season. 4+ innings, 11 hits, 8 runs. After the game Lackey offered no explanation, just saying I don't know what happened.

Let me help you, John, with an explanation. You stink at overcoming anything negative that happens on the field. A good pitcher will find a way to pick-up players around him. Instead, a bloop hit or missed ball turns into a 5-run inning with Lackey. And he can't hold a lead. That's what happen again last night & throughout his last several starts. You don't give your team a chance to win - period.

Thank goodness the Sox offense came back to life against terrible Baltimore pitching & they spanked several O's pitchers for 18 runs. Jed Lowrie's & Conor Jackson's HR's accounted for 7 RBI. Jacoby Ellsbury added an inside-the-park-homer to the mix. Everyone in the lineup contributed. This was a big comeback win by the offense after a tough loss in the opener.

Back to "Slackey," I hope that this start & his previous 3-4 solidifies his place as a non-starter should the Sox be lucky enough to make the postseason. He is now embarassing himself every time he takes the mound.
