IT'S OVER!

The team in a month-long slump, the Boston Red Sox, played & lost last night like a team in a downward spiral.

The team that was hot, the Tampa Bay Rays, made an incredible comeback to win the AL Wild Card.

Maybe both endings were fitting.

Next year begins today. There will be much to say & much to do in the coming months. Expect to hear it all. I'm already tired of hearing Curt Schilling on Dennis & Callahan this morning. Some people should just stay retired & quiet.

Perhaps it was appropriate that Carl Crawford misplayed the last ball of the season. That play reflected a perfect summary of Crawford's first year in Boston - an error.

The outstanding effort last night of Dustin Pedroia & Marco Scutaro go for naught. The breakout year for Jacoby Ellsbury goes for naught.

Watch for a new podcast in the next few days to address some of the issues that the Red Sox face in this off-season.

Like last year, we are faced with the same goal in this year's playoff postseason - anyone but the Yankees.
