Jonathan Papelbon squarely put a 7-5 loss to the O's on his shoulders. A 3-run 8th inning started by Daniel Bard unraveled when Pap relieved Bard with runners on 1st & 2nd with 1 out. An out, a walk & a bases-clearing hit later & 3 runs had scored. Game over.
The Sox lose no ground to Tampa Bay who was defeated in New York 5-0 by the Yankees. The home team remains 2 games up in the Wild Card with 7 to go. The Yankees host a doubleheader with Tampa today while the Sox take on the O's in their last regular season home game tonight.
Since Thursday is an off day everyone should be available for tonight's tilt against the Birds. They need everyone to pull off a win & a split with the O's.
