A huge 4-3 win by the struggling Red Sox last night over the Tampa Bay Rays.
Give credit to all the Sox pitchers. Josh Beckett threw 6 strong innings in his return. That's leadership! Aceves, Bard & Pap closed the door for the final 3 innings. Pap striking out Longoria was a perfect ending to this playoff-atmosphere game.
Give credit to the offense for coming through against James Shields. Ellsbury, Pedroia & Big Papi struck back after every Tampa Bay score to keep the game tied 3-3. Then Mike Aviles homers out of nowhere a la Bucky Bleepin' Dent.
We need a repeat by Jon Lester today against David Price. A split of this series is a must.
