On the 10th anniversary of 9/11 we remember the country being rocked by the attached on the World Trade Towers, the Pentagon & the foiled attack on the Capitol.
I believe that sports played a big part in the country's recovery from the threat of terrorism on our soil. Everyone remembers the following days, weeks & months of hearing about deceased family members & heroic rescuers who died in these attacks.
Many shows are asking where were you on 9/11. I was coaching a college softball team. One player was worried about relatives in NYC. My assistant coaches did a great job counseling her & other players. The players voted to continue their schedule of games that semester. We could have easily cancelled the season as many other schools decided to do.
I was very proud of those young women for not letting terrorism interrupt their college life. And I believe that they helped me as well.
