That's the difference in the AL Wild Card race as we wake up this morning.
Sox can't buy a win, even after 9th inning heroics by Saltie & Ells who hit back-to-back home runs to ties the game in the 9th. David Ortiz grounded into a double play with men on 1st & 2nd to end the rally. I knew that was a bad sign.
And Daniel Bard has a seeing-eye flyball drop between Ells & McDonald for a triple with Longoria bringing in the winning run in the 11th. A good effort goes for not.
Lester & Shields go this afternoon, so that's anyone's game as both guys are capable of putting a lot of zeros on the board.
A much needed off-day happens on Monday. Maybe the Sox can re-group at home on a 9-game homestand against Toronto, Tampa & Baltimore.
It's pretty ugly right now & things need to change before the postseason gets away from the Sox.
