I salute all the fans who risked life & limb to attend yesterday's doubleheader & all those who sat through 4 hours of rain delays to see the Red Sox win 8-3 & 4-0. It was a minor miracle that the Sox got both games in before Hurricane Irene & even better to win both.
The Yankees are playing a doubleheader in Baltimore today after being cancelled out by the storm yesterday. This puts their pitching out of whack for the upcoming series in Boston starting Tuesday. It also puts pressure on the boys in pinstripes to win both games today or risk falling further behind the Sox in the AL East.
I sometimes think that a new park with a retractable roof would be so much better for fans & for predictability in playing the schedule. But Boston fans prove time & time again that baseball is an outdoors game & the elements are part of life with the Red Sox.
A big salute today to all the fans who attend the games yesterday!
