Kyle Weiland pitched well enough to get a win - 3 runs over 6 innings. However, the Sox offense could muster only 2 runs in the heat & the 2nd-day hangover of their 16 inning tilt vs. the Rays from Sunday night. Good news - Yankees lost to the Rays.
Dustin Pedroia kept his hitting streak alive at 18. Saltie hit a homerun for the 2nd day in a row. But Youk, Gonzo & Crawford could do nothing against Jeremy Guthrie. For a guy with 13 losses Guthrie pitched pretty well.
This was Weiland's last fill-in start as Jon Lester is scheduled to pitch on Monday at home vs. the KC Royals. Weiland is certainly a guy with a lot of future potential.
Andrew Miller tries to rebound from a poor outing this afternoon & the Sox go for their 5th series win in a row. July has been a very good month so far.
