Sox Beat the King 7-4

Felix Hernandez made it through the first 6 innings fine, but a 5-run 7th spelled a loss, the 13th in a row, for the Mariners who are a team adrift in the ocean. Most of their starters are triple-A guys whose names are new to baseball fans. Other than Ichiro, it's a young & unproven roster as their record would indicate.

However, no team is ever as bad as you think. I hope Beckett & Wake can keep Seattle in a lull for 2 more games before they decide to wake up.

John Lackey pitched another good game over the first 7 innings. Jacoby Ellsbury kept his home run swing going. Dustin Pedroia had 3 more hits. Youk chipped in 2 hits. And Adrian Gonzalez keeps hitting seeing-eye ground balls for RBI's. We'll take it.

60 wins gives the Sox the 2nd best record in the bigs. The only team better is the Phillies with 62 wins. As long as the Sox win, the Yankees can't gain any ground at 2 full games behind.
