Jacoby Ellsbury On Fire

Moving from the negativity surrounding John Lackey yesterday, it's time to give Jacoby Ellsbury his due. 4 more hits yesterday puts him on pace for close to 200 this year. He is also on pace to score 110 runs, steal about 55 bases & has an OBP of around .370. There is no better leadoff hitter in the majors.

In addition, commentators have used the words Gold Glove caliber outfielder in describing Ells' play on the defensive side of the ball. Jacoby reminds me of a young Johnny Damon. Maybe his only weakness is his throwing arm, but Ells makes up for it with his speed.

I am guilty of overlooking a great season to date by Ellsbury. He does deserve to be an All-Star & is a big reason why the Sox offense is so good.
