Sox Sweep A's

John Lackey did OK in his return from the DL. 3 runs in 5+ innings was good enough as the Sox won 6-3 to sweep the A's. The Sox finish their homestand 3-3 after being swept by the White Sox.

New-arrivals Carl Crawford & Adrian Gonzalez both homered to provide the bulk of the offense yesterday. It was nice to see Pedroia get 2 hits, the last one an RBI single to pad the lead. Saltie had a nice day at the plate as well.

Now it's off to Gotham for a 3-game series with the Yankees. Both start this series with 33 wins. To date only the Rangers, Phillies & Cardinals have more wins. The Sox & Yankees are starting to open up breathing room at the top of the AL East with Tampa Bay now 4 games back.

If not for the Wakefield start on Wednesday, I think we would have a good chance to sweep again. But I'd settle for 2 out of 3 in New York.
