If the Red Sox win 9 out of every 10 games, I think we will be very happy. After a day of rest the Rays spoiled Carl Crawford's return to Tampa Bay with a complete game win by James Shields. Shields had control of all his pitches & used a very nasty change-up to his advantage all night long.
Besides the return of Carl Crawford a very good pitching performance by Tim Wakefield went by the boards & almost unnoticed. Wake pitched 7 innings & gave up only 2 runs. This was a much better start than his last one &, instead of a win, he gets a loss to show for his 100+ pitch night. You can't win when you don't score.
Josh Beckett looks to right the ship tonight.
