Red Sox Get Swept, Bruins Lose

June 1st wasn't a kind day in Boston sports. The Sox lost for the 4th straight game as the White Sox finished off a sweep in Fenway 7-4. The Bruins looked to be headed to overtime when the Canucks scored the only goal of the game & defeated Boston 1-0.

David Ortiz homered for the 2nd straight day. But Jon Papelbon gave up a 2-run homer to Red Sox killer Paul Konerko to put the game out of reach. Konerko has hit over .400 against the Red Sox. The Sox have one more series in Chicago in late July. My advice - walk Konerko.

The Sox are 30-26 (as I predicted!) in 2nd place 2 games behind the Yankees. Quite an improvement from where they were on May 1st. We have a new podcast being made today that will assess the Sox going forward into June. Give a listen once it's uploaded.

That's 2 games in a row that Pappelmouth gave up a dinger! Neither precipitated a blown save, but it is a bit disconcerting. I hope this is not an indicator of things to come.
