Milwaukee Strikes Back With 4-2 Win

Jon Lester spotted the Brewers 4 runs early, just as John Lackey had done the night before. This time, however, the Red Sox bats could only respond with 2 runs, not 10, & the Brewers even up their series in Boston at 1 game apiece. Tim Wakefield pitches this afternoon for the rubber game of the series.

I find it interesting that the Red Sox have beaten quality pitchers like David Price, CC Sabathia, Jared Weaver & others, yet a guy like Randy Wolf can limit this potent offense to just 2 runs. The same thing happened to the Yankees on Friday when they got shutout by Doug Davis of the Cubs.

In my day Wolf & Davis would be called junk-ball pitchers. They throws 2 different curveballs, one fast & one slower, along with showing a hitter a fastball in the mid-80's. They get batters out who overswing or just get fooled.

I guess there is room for all different kinds of pitchers. Look who's starting for the Red Sox today!
