A 3-3 game after 6 complete became a 13-3 game at the end of 7 innings. The Sox score 10 runs in the 7th to win 14-5. It was another terrific offensive performance.
Here's what I saw:
- It's easy to see why the Sox are high on Andrew Miller. Good fastball 94-95 all night long. Good curveball & change. His flaw is his control as he walked 3 in 5+ innings. Miller got out of trouble in the 4th & 5th, but that 3rd walk caught up to him in the 6th when he gave up a game-tying 3-run homer to the O-dog, Orlando Hudson.
- Red Sox fans got to see the power in Anthony Rizzo's bat as he hit one out to the 420 marker in deep center. Rizzo will be a fine major leaguer & he's getting his chance with the Padres, something he would not have done this early in his career if he was still with the Sox.
- I think Youk plays better hurts. It was obvious his ankle was bothing him on his trip around the bases late in the game. Having a nagging injury keeps him mean at the plate.
- Don & Jerry had a fun time in the booth last night as they enjoyed the fans down first base line with the rubber chickens, one with a chicken hat & one with a chicken in a Red Sox jersey. They even did their end of game promo after the 7th since the game was out of hand.
- One last thing. The Yankees are not going away. They may not be putting up double-digits every night like the Sox, but they keep winning. The Yankees are 1 1/2 behind. I thought that the Sox would be creating some space on this run, but so far the Yankees are keeping up.

We are getting a lot of run support this year which is great. Last year, I don't think our pitching was any better that this year, but they did not have the run support. Translation; that game last night could have been a 5-3 loss last year. The same goes for the some of the games this past week. Nice to have good hitting. Lester still concerns me, as does Buckholz.
