A month into the 2011 season & no one can be happy about the results to date. From 0-6 to 10-12 to 11-15. What a down & up & down month!
The Sox have reached a 2nd low-point in the early season after starting 0-6 against the Texas Rangers & Cleveland Indians. In this past week the Boston 9 has lost 2 series to the lowly Baltimore Orioles & Seattle Mariners, going 1-4 so far. And they face King Felix today in an attempt to salvage 1 game in this Seattle series with Tim Wakefield as a substitute starter for Clay Buchholz.
The Sox start today 6 games behind the Yankees in the loss column. 5 months is plenty of time to make up 6 games, but the catch-up process needs to start soon. Guys who aren't hitting, especially with RISP, need to start driving in runs. Relievers who give up leads need to pitch more effectively.
The Sox need to straighten out these things & have a big month of May to finish above .500. That's a tall order right now given the way the team is playing.
