John Lackey & Dice-K are on the DL. Lackey will be back sooner than Dice-K who may be out until July.
Theo has been busy find quality replacements. Tim Wakefield can be pressed into service to replace Lackey for a few starts. Felix Dubront or Alfredo Aceves can handle the duties for Dice-K. As an insurance policy, the Sox signed Kevin Millwood to a contract to see if he can be of assistance in the future.
Not stopping at Millwood, Theo is still looking for an effective lefty out of the bullpen. Rich Hill has been serviceable, but who knows? The Sox released Hideki Okajima to make room for Franklin Morales, a lefty from Colorado. Oki has been on the downside of his career with the Sox for the past 2 years. It appears that Theo believed that the Sox had gotten everything they could out of Oki & it was time to part company.
I give Theo credit for not standing pat & for bringing new guys in.
