Ok, I know that the Sox just lost 2 in a row in Toronto. Pitching & hitting still inconsistent. Team not firing on all cylinders at once - yet. As they go into the Bronx for a 3-game series over the weekend, what's the good news for the Sox?
The good news is the number 5. For as bad & as inconsistent as the Sox have been, they are only 5 games behind the Rays for top spot in the AL East.
Many analysts are saying that this could be a year where all 5 teams in the AL East win 81+ games. Maybe the pennant goes to a team with 91 or 92 wins.
The Sox need to get back to winning series. They need to take 2 out of 3 in New York, then make hay on a 7-game homestand against Baltimore, Detroit & the Chicago Cubbies. They have a stretch of 20 games in 20 days which may just be the thing to turn this around.
I'm still thinking 30-26 by the end of the month.

For the first time since the last day of spring training (w/ a win against Houston) I finally feel decent about the Red Sox as a whole. Big Papi has been a great surprise and everyone else seems to be coming along. Anything over .500 by May 31st will be great to me.
