Adrian Gonzalez saw his first game action of the Grapefruit League against the Florida Marlins yesterday. By all measures it was a successful return to the field.
Gonzo had 2 at-bats which were productive. He lined his first pitch from Josh Johnson to left-center for a single, then had a sac fly in his 2nd at-bat. That was enough to call it a day.
Adrian is scheduled to take batting practice today & get more playing time in Monday's game. He re-emphasized that he expects to be ready for Opening Day in Texas.
By the way, it didn't hurt to see Ellsbury & Pedroia on base in front of Gonzo. Both players have had multi-hit games in their last few starts. With Gonzo, Youk, Crawford & other big sticks hitting behind Ells & Petey they can expect to score a lot of runs.
All signs are positive as another week begins.
