Spring Training Ideas

Pitchers & catchers report on Sunday to unveil the official start of Spring Training 2011. As is usual at this time of year, many ideas get thrown out into cyber space by sportswriters & fans. Here's two that are currently out there - I mean way out there.

1) J.D. Drew can hit in the leadoff spot.

Whoever said that, stop smoking crack! Drew had the worse OBP of his career last year & even he admitted that he lost control of the strike zone. I don't want to see him make the first out every game. I vote no to Drew leading off.

2) Daniel Bard can be a starter.

Whoever said that, cut back on your meds! We have plenty of starters, including a #6 in Tim Wakefield. Why would you move the best 8th inning guy in the league & potential closer for 2012 into a starter's role? If it's not broke, don't fix it. I vote no to moving Bard from the pen.

I'm sure this is just the start of a barrage of ideas, comments & thoughts that will be asked of Tito every day that he steps onto the field in Fort Myers. But that's part of the excitement of starting a new season.

OK, keep the ideas rolling in.
