Red Sox fans can rejoice. Adrian Gonzalez got to take 20 swings off a tee today. He reported no discomfort 4 months after undergoing shoulder surgery. Adrian is scheduled to be ready to play on Opening Day this April 1st.
Don't you just love this guy already? Every interview he gives shows that he is articulate, a student of the game & a humble player. What unusual attributes in a superstar of the 21st century! No reality show. No tweeting.
Gonzo is a perfect fit for this team & any team.

Hi Don...I know exactly what you mean about A-Gon. I think the Sox hit homeruns with both big acqusitions this year. Have you seen/heard Crawford talk and handle himself so far, this guy is also awesome and they both seem like seasoned vets (although they have played for a while they are still technically heading into thier prime and in thier 20's) the way they have handled the hype and media so far coming into Boston. This to me, is as important as the talent they bring to the club. We've seen plenty of "talented" players come and go and not be able to handle everything that comes with playing for the Sox in Boston. I am so pumped up.
I think I told you earlier in the year I was thinking seriously of NOT renewing my MLB TV package because I really thought the Sox were heading towards a much "cheaper" approach when they didnt sign Martinez and others and I really had my doubts as much as I've ever had but what they have done in 3 mos to transform and round-out this ballclub has completely changed me 180 degrees.
Not only for the fact that they went out and signed some FA's (we have seen that before too going back to old Sweet Lou Gorman exclaiming that Matt Young was the "best 18 game LOSER he had ever seen) but really did it with what made Epstein such a professional GM by understanding what they needed based on holes, team chemistry, payroll situation now and coming years along with the actual player profile of youth, versatility and gobbles of talent. This in more ways than just saying we got a guy who hits HR's is what makes me so EXCITED about the team this year and going forward.
In essence, they have renewed FAITH with me that they are ALWAYS trying to win, and for a little while I as a fan, had many doubts about.....It's almost as if even if they dont win the division or WS, I feel confident that the front office is there everyday trying to figure out a way to get better and win...Did you see Luchinno's comments that they have more money set aside if they need to make deals before the trade deadline ?? Awesome, and I'm not a Luchino fan by any means !!!
