Sox Get Dan Wheeler

Nice going, Theo.

Dan Wheeler is another great arm for the rebuilding of the Boston bullpen. He had 3 great years in Tampa Bay pitching the 7th & 8th innings of games. He signs a 1-year deal with a club option for 2012.

The bullpen now features Atchison, Albers, Dubront, Jenks, Wheeler, Bard & Papelbon. Not bad, hah! There are several more arms in the minors - including Andrew Miller & Lenny Dinardo - as lefties. I think you always need 2 lefties in the pen against the Yankees.

The news keeps getting better for 2011.

Looks like a good pen. As far as lefties in the minors, I think Dinardo went to the Manny Delmeatball school of pitching. You could certainly use 2 GOOD lefties against the Yankees.

My question about the Sox' bullpen this year is: Will Papelbon open camp with Sox, be traded midway through the year or spend the whole season with the team. It has felt for the last two years that he and the team were on course to part ways and with an expiring $10 million contract I think it could be sooner than later.
