The Sox & the Marlins made an exchange of left-handed pitchers. Andrew Miller comes to Boston. Dustin Richardson goes to Florida. On paper it's a bit of a wash with neither player having made an impact at the Major League level yet.
Miller was a very high draft pick in 2006. His career has been plagued with wildness & injuries. Maybe a Red Sox scout saw something that makes the team think that Miller would be an asset to the Sox. We do need left-handed pitching to beat the Yankees.
Other than the signing of Ortiz, the Sox still have to address majors needs via the futures of Victor Martinez & Adrian Beltre.
