The New England Patriots parted company with Randy Moss, an aging veteran who is looking for another big dollar contract at the end of the season. Will the Boston Red Sox part company with their aging slugger, David Ortiz?
Probably not is my guess. Ortiz' name means too much to this franchise. Saying that, however, I dont see the Red Sox overpaying to keep him. The Sox can pick-up the option on Big Papi & pay him his $12 million for 1 more year. Or they can re-negotiate a multi-year deal & look to average out $6, $7 or $8 million a year.
Look for Big Papi to be in a Red Sox uniform for 2 or 3 more seasons at lower dollars.
