Manny Delcarmen Traded to Colorado

It was time for the Red Sox to cut bait with Manny Delcarmen. His 6 years of up & down performances finally ended yesterday as the Sox dealt Delcarmen to the Colorado Rockies for a minor league pitcher & cash.

A Boston native, Delcarmen was a 50/50 proposition any time he entered a game. He was good with electric stuff one day & walking batters around the park & giving up HR's the next. One never knew which Delcarmen would show up. Too many times it was Manny "Del-meatball" this year.

A change of scenery may do him well.

This has been a long time coming. The problem is that the Red Sox were in love with this guy, as were the media, because he was a local guy. Everyone was willing to overlook the fact that he was a meatballer.
It appears Manny may have passed the torch to Felix Doubron. Last night Felix came in and gave up two quick dingers. It's funny how the Red Sox began the season counting their pitching and their defense. Neither has been great, nor has there hitting been anything to write home about. It is time to start setting this team up for next year.
