"A+" For Effort

Give the Sox players credit. They get an "A+" for effort in this series where they take 2 out of 3 from Tampa Bay. Had it not been for a stinko performance by Dice-K in the middle game, maybe they take all 3.

5 homers from the Sox offense paced the 11-5 win. Scutaro (2), Beltre, Ortiz & Martinez all hit bombs & chased Red Sox killer Matt Garza early. It's always fun to get back at a pitcher who usually has your number.

Tim Wakefield, in a spot start, gets a win & becomes the oldest Red Sox pitcher in history to win a game. I think he needs to lose the beard, though. At 44 it's not a good look as it makes him look as old as Abe Lincoln.

Youngsters Reddick, Kalish & Anderson all contributed in the field & at the plate. As Tito mentioned after the game, they do bring an enthusiasm & freshness to the lineup. Nice to see.

It's off to the west coast for 6 with Oakland & Seattle. Get a nap in, fans, to stay up for these games.
