The Sox could only muster a run in the 9th on a Kevin Youkilis home run as the O's did enough against John Lackey to earn a win 6-1 at Fenway on Independence Day. Maybe the highlight of the game for Red Sox fans was the ceremonial first pitch thrown out by a local combat veteran, a real hero, followed by a fly over with 4 jets from Hanscom AFB.
I'm sure it was a long holiday for families with men & women overseas in Afghanistan & other far away places. This blog is visited on a regular basis by a Red Sox fan in India, probably a service man or woman stationed there. We can never forget all we owe to our military personnel & the sacrifice of their families.
