Oswalt to Phillies

Teams are getting active as the trade deadline approaches. The biggest trade by far is Roy Oswalt to the Phillies. Like the Cliff Lee deal last year, it gives the surging Phillies a big boost going into the playoffs.

Other moves include:

- Scott Podsednik from Kansas City to the LA Dodgers.

- Jhonny Peralta from Cleveland to the Detroit Tigers.

- Jorge Cantu from Florida to the Texas Rangers.

- Miguel Tejada from Baltimore to the San Diego Padres.

- Closer Matt Capps from Washington to the Minnesota Twins.

All of these contenders just got better by giving up prospects or money to get these players.

What about the Red Sox? You might say that they re-acquired Josh Beckett, Clay Buchholz & Victor Martinez with more "deals" to come as players return from the DL. I'd like to see the Sox acquire a left-handed reliever to replace Oki & bring up Felix Dubront to have 2 lefties in the bullpen against the Yankees & Rays. I'm not expecting any major moves. I'd rather see the kids from the farm get a chance to prove themselves for 2 months.
