One Too Many

The injury to Kevin Youkilis last night proved one too many for the Sox team to overcome as they fell again in Tampa Bay 3-1. With Youkilis out Rays manager Joe Maddon intentionally walked David Ortiz 3 times to pitch to Youk's rookie replacement, Numan Romero, who made an out each time. It was a team of more fill-ins than starters as the game ended.

The Sox are now 6-7 in their last 13 & it appears that the magic has started to fade. The law of averages is bound to catch-up with you with so many replacements.

Bullpen struggles continue as Hideki Okajima gave up a critical HR to Carl Crawford in the bottom of the 8th & could not finish the inning. Oki, Delcarmen & Ramirez have not provided the necessary bridge to Bard & Pap. Time to clean house in the bullpen, Theo, & try some new arms.
