Isn't this like a rock band from the past making a reunion tour?
David Ortiz, Big Papi, wins the home run derby last night. It is redemption for him after all the sports talking heads had him getting released from the Red Sox in April.
It meant something to him to win the home run derby. It's part of his Houdini act of showing up after a horrible April. Big Papi wants people to know he is not dead yet.
I think the comeback started after being pinch-hit for in the early part of May. After sitting down twice to have Mike Lowell pinch hit for him the big guy decided to put more work in & he got better. There is no substitute for hard work in any profession. Ortiz got embarassed & he decided to do something about it.
Let's hope he has a monster second half.
