The Sox are well represented at this year's All-Star Game in Anaheim as 6 players will join the AL team. Jon Lester, Adrian Beltre & David Ortiz are the 3 non-injured players selected to the team, as well as injured players Victor Martinez, Dustin Pedroia & Clay Buchholz. Even though the game has lost much of its past luster, & the Home Run Derby with Chris Berman seems to be the best event, it's still nice to see these Sox players acknowledged for their first half accomplishments.
The All-Star Game also signals the start of trade deadline deals. Looking at the standings today, teams that could be sellers include Baltimore, Cleveland, Pittsburg, Houston & Seattle. All 5 are out of the running at 15 or more games back. Will the Sox make any moves or just wait for players to come off the DL? Interesting question. I guess we'll hear more rumors as the month moves along.
